Paleontology in Trotternish on the Isle of Skye

If you follow the links provided below you will be able to discover what this unique part of Skye has to offer in terms of paleontology. Trotternish is also an area of considerable geological significance.

The University of Glasgow's Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery has a feature on the unique dinosaur remains in Trotternish - type the words "dinosaur skye" (without the quotation marks) into their search box. The local Staffin Museum's paleontology collection includes dinosaur fossils unearthed on the Trotternish peninsula.

Also the Trotternish peninsula is notable for its fossils, especially at Bearreraig. Fossils can be found and examined all along the foreshore from Bearreraig up to Flodigarry Bay by the hotel.

The Staffin Community Trust website has a downloadable document on dinosaurs.
